How to get gems in The Survivalists

There are few endgame materials as important as gems in The Survivalists. They can only be found in a dangerous biome and are needed to repair high level tools or create fast travel points on the map.

Gems are only found in the Volcanic biome. You will need a raft, a sail and several glass jars of cold water – to reach a volcanic island, build the raft and sail away. Due to the procedural nature of the game, we can’t say where to go. Choose a direction and continue.

Volcanic biomes are dangerous. Powerful enemies, more Orclings, and high temperatures will send an unprepared Adventurer back to spawn. Put a few storage chests on the raft and have a monkey carry one with food, spare weapons, and cold water. Water will provide a heat buff. You can tolerate heat for a limited time without harming your health. The heat will only bother you on the black sand parts of the beach. They are marked on the map. If you can walk around them, you can avoid damaging heat.

The gems are shiny red rocks, the nodes are black, with the red stones coming out of them. Light picks are a good tool to use due to their durability. Gemstone knots are strong and will take more beatings than metal or gold knots. This will wear down the durability of the tool. Nodes drop around three to four gems each, so be prepared with backup weapons.

Gems are needed for teleporters and repairing high-quality tools inside chests. Teleporters allow you to fast travel to any other teleporter on the map. You will have to place the teleporters yourself and build outposts around them to secure them. They are resource intensive, requiring multiple gems and gold. We haven’t encountered the high rank tools, but broken ones can be repaired with gems inside chests.
